Wow! Someone Is Reading My Book Right Now!

Ok, not really, but to me that would be cool. I just got Lottery by Patricia Wood in the mail today. I don't know why I was so excited to get it, but I was. I guess because the Author once posted a comment on my blog. How in the world she found me, I have no idea. I've visited her blog several times... What a neat lady. So anyway, I mostly read Fantasy, but the description of her story sounded so compelling, I had to buy it. I even paid full price at Amazon though I usually buy used ones. Hey she seems like a neat lady, I want to help all I can.

So I stared reading at around noon. At 1:30 I emailed her to tell her she made me cry. Me a 40 year old man, sobbing at the kitchen table while eating lunch. Within an hour I get an email back from her, saying she always finds it gratifying to make grown men cry.

Then I got to thinking how cool it would be, as an author, to know that somewhere half way around the world, someone was at this very moment reading a story I wrote. Do I have a big ego or what?

So Pat, if you somehow stumble on this blog again, here's to hoping that you get joy out of knowing I spent almost all afternoon reading Lottery, when I should have been working. So far, I love it. For everyone else out there, I highly recommend it. Buy it now!

I'm here because Pat sent me. I've already bought ten copies, and had her sign a whole bunch of them for my friends. (Ssshhh! Half of them are Christmas gifts!) Great book, isn't it? Hope you get to meet her. She's even cooler than the book.

Pat told me to bring you a box of tissue and a copy of "Steel Magnolia's." She's very naughty. Isn't Lottery a magnificent story? I want to know what happens to Perry now! Pleased to meet you! Swing by my place and say hello!

I read and loved the book, too. I'm not a 40-year-old man, but I cried, too. My review is here if you're interested.

Wow, this is some kind of record for me. Four comments from four different people. I know, I know you didn't come because of my writing, but hey, I'll take what I can get. And yes, I'd love to meet Pat some day, in Hawaii. (Hawaii is the only state I haven't been to, and I desperately want to go some day.) Thanks again Pat for Lottery.

I followed everyone over from Pat's blog. I'm a friend of hers, a fellow author who's published two novels and has another in production. I enjoyed Lottery as much as you have. Congrats on stumbling across such a good read! Take care from Canada :)

When you finish "Lottery", find "The Tin Box" by Holly Kennedy. Another great and well crafted book. You won't be sorry.

Don't worry about the crying, it happens to the best of us when we read Lottery. Male, female, tenderhearted, jaded, it matters not. And don't forget to save some of those kleenex for your rental of Beaches. It's on the must-do list of things to keep us Pat Woods fans busy until her next tome is published.
