Noah Zarc Rewrite - Again

I finished up the latest rewrite/edit of Noah Zarc last night. I'm really excited about some of the changes. I'm gonna let it stew a couple days then send it off to some readers. The plan is to have this be the last pass. Then it is time to start submitting it. I cut about 1,500 words, but it is still just a bit over 50k. Perhaps my readers can point out a few places to cut. But if not I'm pretty comfortable with that. I don't think any agent is going to throw it out because of a few thousand words.

Yay, you! I think paring it down is important, but the story needs to take precedence. I read somewhere that if you're wildly too high that editors take that to mean you haven't tried to streamline the story, but if you're reasonable, then it's not a "red flag" and the word count isn't so important.

If you'd like to do a novel swap, I could read/critique yours now (since you're ready) and then take an option for you to read/critique mine next month (when it will hopefully be ready for test readers).

Thanks Susan. I would love to have you take a look. I'll send it over in a day or so. Although the fact that you are a "Rocket Scientist" is a bit nerve-wracking. :-) I tried to keep my technology pretty simple for a middle grade reader, but I'd love to hear your perspective on it.

I promise to be cool and not geek out too much! :) Looking forward to seeing your story . . .

My wife's an electrical engineer, so I'm used to it.
